This afternoon our Collie - named Jade disappeared. She was around the farm buildings at Wolds End Farm (on the Aston Road) but we now cannot find her.She is a small dog - a bit nervous- but really quite friendly. Chipping Campden War Memorial Green The Chipping Campden War Memorial Green is a community space owned and managed by the Chipping Campden Town Trust Charity. Now that the post COVID government legislation relaxing many ‘rules’, to encourage a return to business as usual, has been withdrawn, there must also be a return to full legislative oversight. In order for a trader to lawfully occupy and sell products and services on the Green, the Trust and trader must satisfy the legal requirements of both the Charity Commission and the local planning and alcohol licencing authority.In an act of goodwill earlier this year, the Town Trust agreed to the continuation of an arrangement with a local restaurant first entered into when post COVID recovery was the Government’s top priority. That agreement has had to be rescinded because advice from Cotswold District Council and the Charity Commission suggest it might not be fully lawful. We have been advised that a trader seeking to trade for more than 28 days per annum on the Green must obtain planning permission for temporary change of use from community space to commercial, while the planning authority’s relaxation of alcohol licence conditions is valid only until the end of September. The arrangement with the trader must also meet the Charity Commission’s regulations that local planning and licencing requirements have been met, and in addition the Trust must be able to demonstrate that the rental payments provide the Trust with a fair and best value return. A Chartered Surveyor or similar professional would be needed to provide this. As custodians of the Green, the Trustees have therefore had to withdraw the agreement from earlier this year while awaiting further advice. The Trustees Chipping Campden Town Trust

Police have issued a warning after several distraction thefts have happened this month where victims have either had jewellery or cash stolen.Since the beginning of March there have been seven separate reports of people being targeted by thieves who distract them and then steal from them.Often victims are elderly, and police are urging people to make their family, friends and neighbours aware of this type of distraction theft.A common theme amongst the incidents is fraudsters pretending to collect money for charity, and finding ways to get physically close to the victims to either steal a watch, jewellery or cash from their purse or bag.On Friday 3 March a man in his 80s was approached by a woman who wanted to talk to him about making a donation to a charity, during this she stole a gold chain from around his neck.On the same day in Cirencester a woman was approached by another woman who claimed to be collecting money for a charity for deaf children. The woman got her purse out to make a donation, and later that day noticed £600 in cash had been stolen from her purse.On Monday 6 March in Tetbury, a woman was approached by two women reportedly collecting for a deaf children's charity, while speaking with one of the women, the other opened the victim's car door and stole £450 in cash from her bag.On Thursday 9 March on London Road in Stroud, a woman was distracted and had her purse stolen.On the same date in Cirencester, a man was loading bags of groceries into his car boot when he was distracted by another man. He later noticed his wallet had been stolen and money had been withdrawn from his bank account.On Monday this week (13 March) in Cirencester, a woman was approached by another woman who claimed to again be collecting for a deaf children's charity and was asking for donations. The victim donated £10, and when the woman who claimed to be a charity worker hugged her, it is believed she stole £300 in cash from her purse.Yesterday (Tuesday 14 March) a man was approached by a woman in Stow-on-the-Wold who said she was collecting money for a deaf charity. A new on demand bus service for the North Cotswolds is being planned by Community Connexions – a Gloucestershire charity providing transport for the most vulnerable in our communities. This is a door-to-door service, so not to be confused with the recently introduced Robin bus.&nbsp;The service is due to start week commencing 3rd April and the Bus will be based at Stow. They are looking at running regular shopper routes, these are door to door so ideal for those unable to get to a bus stop and Community Connextions would like to know which supermarket(s) are most utilised in your area to set up the most suitable route(s) so if you could let us know and and we can pass on to them. Passengers on these shopper routes can use their concessionary bus passes, so can travel for free. You are all invited to an informal occasion to mark the planting of a paperbark maple tree (acer griseum) to add to the growing number of trees being planted for “The Queen’s Green Canopy”, following the wishes of His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memory of Her late Majesty. &nbsp;The QGC Plaque has been supplied by the Royal British Legion.The paperbark maple will replace the silver birch that had to be felled late last year due to risk of falling and poor condition.The informal tree planting occasion will take place at 3.00 pm on Friday 10th March. &nbsp;All are welcome.The tree has been jointly funded by the Town Trust and John and Jean Ellis.Town Trust.
