Government guidance in the National Planning Policy Framework includes a requirement that NDPs should give local people an opportunity to protect green spaces that have significant importance to their local community by designating them as ‘Local Green Spaces’.<img src="https://community-platform-bucket-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/campdenonline/User_1/postMedia/embedment_2gxvr9l8t0diuu.jpeg">Having considered the need for Local Green Spaces in the Chipping Campden NDP area and to ensure that existing green spaces are maintained, protected and enhanced.&nbsp; The Draft NDP proposes the designation of Local Green Spaces in Chipping Campden and Broad Campden at the locations shown on the attached map. &nbsp;Further details can be found using this link:<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.chippingcampden-tc.gov.uk/neighbourhood-plan.html">https://www.chippingcampden-tc.gov.uk/neighbourhood-plan.html</a> The Town Council is seeking the views of the local community on the locations shown and any other sites that you might like to put forward for consideration.&nbsp; Please remember that you cannot just put forward a site to simply prevent it from being built on.&nbsp; Once the views of the owners of the sites and the community are known, the Town Council will undertake a detailed evaluation of each site taking everyone’s views into account before deciding on which sites are to be in the NDP. If the NDP includes proposals to designate specific sites as Local Green Spaces is approved, any proposals for development in the designated Local Green Spaces will be resisted unless very special circumstances can be demonstrated. The general rule of thumb is similar to developments in a green belt, which is that building developments are prohibited unless they are covered by exceptions in government policy. The main exceptions are for agricultural and forestry buildings, certain outdoor sports facilities and extensions or replacements of existing buildings. The Town Council is keen to hear your views on its proposals, but given the time available to progress the NDP, if the Council does not hear from you by Monday 24th October 2022, it will assume that you are content with the proposals. The final draft of the NDP will be available for public comment before it goes to Cotswold District Council (CDC) for approval. If CDC approves the draft NDP there will be a six-week public consultation period during which the local community can make its views known on the proposals. The plan may have to be revised depending on the results of the consultation.
