We have had a number of reports recently of people still using e-scooters on the highway.
Any mechanically propelled scooter can not be used on paths or roads, unless it has insurance.
Some local towns do hire out these type of scooters, but they are covered by insurance. Chipping Campden does not hire out these type of scooters.
If anyone is found using an e-scooter on the highway it is likely it will be seized under the Road Traffic act for no insurance. This will result in a fine of £300 and 6 penalty points. Anyone who doesn’t have a driving licence will have one created and the 6 penalty points will remain in place for 4 years, so this could impact on a young person wanting to start driving at 17.
